Outdoor Gyms in Seoul
The capital straddles the wide Han River, whose banks are lined with continuous riverside parks, cycle paths and exercise areas, and it is ringed by granite peaks whose trails begin inside the city limits and are often equipped with exercise stations. Dense apartment complexes each have their own small fitness corners, and a strong hiking and walking culture keeps outdoor training popular across all ages. Like most of South Korea, Seoul treats outdoor fitness as public infrastructure: equipment installed in parks and green spaces, free to use, and built to the EN 16630 safety standard.
Training outdoors in Seoul through the year
A humid continental climate with a monsoon influence brings hot, humid summers, a heavy rainy period from late June into July and occasional late-summer typhoons, followed by cold, dry winters with temperatures often well below freezing. Spring and autumn are short but ideal for outdoor training, though fine dust on some spring days can push sessions indoors. Planning around the seasons - and choosing equipment that stands up to the local weather - is what keeps an outdoor gym useful year-round. Our guide to outdoor training covers how to build a routine you can keep in any climate.
